Florida Electronic Library
Description
The intent of the Florida Electronic Library (FEL) initiative is to provide statewide access and sharing of electronic resources and services to all residents of the state of Florida. Access to the FEL is provided by way of a Web-based interface (portal) capable of retrieving information from multiple sources using a single search engine and a single query. The FEL consists of these six primary components:
- Statewide licensed databases;
- Portal;
- Virtual union catalog;
- Statewide interlibrary loan service;
- Local digital content; and
- "real-time" virtual reference capabilities.
The development of the FEL is an ongoing process and the Institute will continue to assist its assessment and evaluation.
