The 2007-2008 Public Libraries and the Internet report from the
Information Institute is now available here. This report
presents findings from the 2007-2008 National Survey of Public Library
Computer and Internet Access survey administered in the fall of 2007 to
public libraries across the United States. ALA has published Libraries
Connect Communities: Public Library Funding & Technology Access Study
2007-2008 available at The American Library Association which
includes the survey results, as well as additional findings based on
case site visits to public libraries and in-depth analysis of library
technology budgeting and staffing issues.
The report available through the Information Institute includes analysis and results from survey questions asked in the survey on both a national and individual state level.* The Information Institute’s report provides additional analysis, particularly at the state level, than those that are available in the ALA publication, primarily due to space constraints.
* Due to response rates, it was not possible to analyze the data from all 50 states individually. The report presents survey data for 43 states and the District of Columbia.
