Introduction

This page presents the privacy policy and practices that guide how we collect and use information about users of the E-Metrics Instructional System (EMIS) web site. This privacy policy identifies what information the EMIS web site collects about its users, how it is used, and under what circumstances, if any, the private information is disclosed.

Collection of Personal Information

We do not automatically gather any personal information (such as names, phone numbers, or e-mail addresses) from users of the EMIS site. We collect this information only when you voluntarily supply it (for example, to register for an EMIS workshop), and we use it only for the stated purpose (e.g., to process workshop registrants) and for very occasional announcements by the Information Use Management and Policy Institute of interest to EMIS users (for instance, announcements of major EMIS enhancements). We will never provide personal information obtained from EMIS users to unrelated third parties for their commercial or unrestricted use.

We make use of web log file analysis to determine which aspects of the EMIS instructional site are being used, remain unused, and other general use patterns. We DO NOT track individual use of the site through such log analysis techniques.

The following summarizes the instances of request of personal information from users and how it will be used:

Registration for EMIS training workshops - The personal information provided will be used to process participation and alert users on major enhancements to EMIS and future EMIS workshops.
Login to EMIS (not required to use EMIS) - The personal information provided will be used to personalize user's EMIS experience.
Feedback form - The personal information provided will be used to respond to the person offering the feedback.

Cookies

This web site uses cookies to track your login status. Cookies are small data files that are transferred from a Web server to your browser. These files contain information that may later be read by the Web server for record keeping purposes. Our cookies allow you to login to the EMIS site and personalize your experience. Most Internet browsers allow you to erase cookies from your computer hard drive, block all or some cookies, and/or receive a warning before a cookie is stored. Although you can access the EMIS site and all training materials without cookies, you will not be able take advantage of some of the additional features. Notification of Changes

The Information Use Management and Policy Institute will post EMIS privacy policy changes on the website. EMIS will obtain user permission in advance should EMIS decide to use personal information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected.
