Dr. Charles R. McClure and Lauren H. Mandel Present on Broadband Policy at ALISE Annual Conference

Dr. Charles R. McClure, Director, and Lauren H. Mandel, Research Coordinator, presented a paper at the Information Policy Special Interest Group (SIG) Panel at the 2010 ALISE Annual Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, January 14. McClure and Mandel presented the results of the Needs Assessment of Florida Public Library E-Government and Emergency Management Broadband Services, a project funded by the State Library & Archives of Florida. They discussed the policy implications of the study and the larger context of broadband policy for public libraries. The presentation provided specific recommendations that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) might consider in the development of the National Broadband Plan which is to be completed by March 2010 (see http://www.broadband.gov/ for more information about the National Plan).
