Mission

The mission of the Institute is to develop and implement applied research and policy studies that improve the quality, effectiveness, and productivity of individuals and organizations' use and management of information resources and services. The Institute is especially interested in the social and behavioral aspects regarding access to, the use of, and management of information and information technology.

 

Stance

Successful development and implementation of applied research and policy requires a stance of taking action. That is, the Institute stresses the development of specific strategies for implementing study findings, making practical recommendations, and facilitating change. A key component of Institute work is insuring that study findings and results can be implemented in practical and successful ways. Projects performed by the Institute are intended to make an improvement in how individuals and organizations access, use, and manage information.
